Q: What should I do if freezing weather is forecast?
A: If your equipment is functioning properly you will want to make sure that your filter pump and any auxilliary pumps are running. If you have a basic timer controlling your pump don't forget to remove the "off" tripper.
Q: Does my cleaner pump need to run as well?
A: Not if it is a pressure side pump. The filter pump will automatically protect it by pushing water through it.
Q: What do I do if my equipment is not functioning properly?
A: In that case you will need to winterize your equipment. By this we mean you will need to remove any plugs from the pump and filter housings as well as any plugs in the heater if you have one. If your equipment is below water level you will need to close off all valves to prevent the pool from draining. Try to insulate the pipes as well as possible and hope for the best. If your equipment is above water level simply remove the plugs from all of the components and the water will drain back into your pool.
Q: What do I do if I lose power or freezing has already occurred with my pump(s) not running.
A: There really isn't much you can do. Cross your fingers, hope for the best and stay warm.
